In 2023, Van Leeuwen was awarded multiple contracts for the INEOS Project ONE in Antwerp, Belgium. The INEOS ONE Project is a new state-of-the-art petrochemicals complex where an ethane cracker with the lowest carbon footprint in Europe is being built. Van Leeuwen delivered approx. 15,000 tons of pipe, fittings and flanges with a combined value of more than € 50 Mio EUR to this project. We used the full capacity of our Global Project Organization (GPO) strengths, amongst others:
Deliveries started in 2023 and lasted until early 2025, when we finalized our part of the project to the full satisfaction of our customers. Watch our video showcasing the shipment of large diameter tubes from the DPSA in the Port of Rotterdam to one of the fabricator sites.
Approximately 30 km south of New Orleans (Louisiana, USA), Venture Global is building an LNG liquefaction and export facility in Plaquemines Parish. KZJV, a joint venture of KBR and Zachry Group, was awarded the EPC scope. Van Leeuwen USA was awarded one of two vendor agreements which covered all carbon, low-temperature, and stainless-steel pipes; both seamless and welded. Supplies started in the second half of 2022 and lasted until 2024. In total, we delivered more than 162 kilometers of pipes to six different fabricators for this project
The strength, experience and professionalism of our Global Project Organization was one of the key factors for our success. Thanks to close cooperation between our project teams in the USA, Canada and Europe we secured the best procurement possibilities for direct deliveries, combined with deliveries from the Edmonton stock facility.
But we delivered more than tubes. We also took care of pipe cutting services, NSF61 pipe cleaning and material inspections, both at manufacturers’ and distributors’ facilities. With our project management services such as expediting, planning and transport plans we executed this project to the full satisfaction of our customer.
In the last months of 2022, Van Leeuwen has supplied a major package of pipes, fittings and flanges for the Eems Energy Terminal (EET) in the Eemshaven in Groningen, the Netherlands.
At this location, Gasunie has developed an LNG import facility, including 2 FSRU’s (Floating Storage Regassification Units) with a capacity of 8 bcm (billion cubic meters) per year. Gasunie Transport Services will further distribute the gas in the Netherlands via its national gas pipeline network. This project was considered a vital part of the gas infrastructure to guarantee gas supply in the coming years. Therefore, it was subject to a very challenging time schedule. The project should start operations within a year.
Van Leeuwen supplied a complete package of pipes, fittings and flanges in carbon steel, stainless and duplex materials. Van Leeuwen could adhere to the “extreme tight schedule” due to our good position of available stocks in several locations and our network of strategic suppliers throughout Europe. All was managed by our well-experienced and dedicated project and logistics team. Van Leeuwen supplied both the materials and arranged the full logistical service up to delivery at the project site in Eemshaven.
Meanwhile, gas flows into the Dutch pipeline network from this new terminal. We are proud of our contribution to this important project, which has been developed to reduce our dependence on Russian gas.
